Fairtrade Dairy Milk Hits Chesham
Fairtrade Dairy Milk bars have hit the shops in Chesham. Cadbury has been working with the Fairtrade Foundation for a couple of years to switch the production of the UK's favourite chocolate bar to Fairtrade and the bars are now officially certified and carry the Fairtrade logo.
Dairy Milk is Cadbury's biggest brand, selling 300 million bars per year, so the switch to Fairtrade will have a large impact on the number of developing world farmers who can benefit from Fairtrade.
Cadbury now pay a guaranteed minimum price for the cocoa that goes into Dairy Milk, plus a social premium to be used by farmers to benefit their community and environment.
Even more good news for UK consumers is that neither the Dairy Milk taste nor the price have changed as a result of the switch to Fairtrade.
Cadbury are committed to extending Fairtrade to their other chocolate brands. You can read more about Cadbury's Fairtrade journey at their blog site: cadburydairymilk.typepad.com/ And don't forget to look for the Fairtrade logo in the Chesham shops!
