Fun at the Fashion Show

Recycled and Fairtrade FashionsA great time was had by all at the Fairtrade Fashion Show at the Elgiva on the 4th March.

The evening featured a performance by Shed@ThePark and music by Jack Garratt, along with dancing by Sarby (pictured left with Nicky modelling a recycled wedding dress by Clem Short Couture) and the Maggie Monk Street Dancers.

In addition to fashion, the winners of the Fairtrade Poetry Competition were announced. The overall winner was Hollie Thubron, winner of the 9-12 years category, with "You'll Look Back". You can read the winning entries on our Poetry Page. Local poet, Susan Lacey, who helped to judge the competition, performed her poem "A Pensioner Fights the Fairtrade Cause".

Beautiful Fairtrade fashions were on display from People Tree, Traidcraft, Komodo and Five G, along with creations by local designers as part of the Fairtrade Fashion Challenge.

Clem Short, one of the organisers, said "The evening was a wonderful mix of a showcase of Fairtrade and recycled fashion and also a demonstration of the many and varied talents of the people of Chesham".

There was a great turn-out from both Chesham residents and people from further afield. Chesham4Fairtrade is very grateful to all those who came and supported the event, and to those local businesses that provided sponsorship.
