Cllr Pauline Wilkinson
It is with great sadness that the Chesham Fairtrade Group reports the passing of one of its founder members, Cllr Mrs Pauline Wilkinson on 21st June 2009.
Chesham Fairtrade Chairman, Rev Colin Cartwright said, "On behalf of the Chesham Fairtrade Group, I would like to express my appreciation for Pauline Wilkinson, specifically for her contribution to the local campaign for Fairtrade.
From the early days Pauline was involved, firstly as a Town Council representative, then later in a personal capacity. Pauline was a dedicated public servant, committed in very practical ways to her local community. Her last words to me, when she came to help on a Fairtrade stall in Lowndes Park on 20th June, despite feeling poorly, were, "I came because I didn't want to let anyone down". That was typical of this determined and compassionate woman, who was an example to us all."
The Fairtrade Group would like to express its sympathy to her family and close friends. She will be missed by them and by our town.
