Photos from the Fashion Show at the Elgiva March 2009!
The Fairtrade fashion show, held at the Elgiva on March 5th 2009, kicked off with a screening of the film China Blue, which gave an insight into the appalling conditions in which the jeans in our high street shops are made.
Shed@ThePark, Chesham's inclusive theatre company, started the second half of the evening with a performance of a song they had written especially for the event.
This was followed by the catwalk show of fairtrade and ethical fashions, and included dancing from Sarby and DFL's hiphop dance group.
Menswear was all from Steve Redgrave's Five G collection in Fairtrade cotton for Debenhams. Womenswear featured clothing from Traidcraft, People Tree and Komodo collections, and also included accessories from our local Oxfam, plus a few one-off pieces from Junky Styling, a small London-based company that makes individual pieces out of items from Oxfam's Wastesaver recycling plant, which are then sold in the Oxfam boutiques in London.
Most of the People Tree clothing in the fashion show was from last year's collection and will be available in Chesham's Oxfam while stocks last; other items are available from www.peopletree.co.uk, and from www.oxfam.co.uk. Komodo dresses are available online from www.komodo.co.uk, www.adili.com, and www.bochica.co.uk.
Traidcraft items are available by mail order through their catalogue, or online from www.traidcraftshop.co.uk.
