Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight 2011
Chesham4Fairtrade will be hanging out the flags to celebrate and raise awareness of Fairtrade Fortnight at 12 noon on Saturday 5th March in the Market Square, near the Chesham Fairtrade Town sign, and everyone is invited!
What's more, these flags are not just bunting, they are Fairtrade cotton bunting, decorated by many local businesses and supporters, including many of the Chesham shops which stock Fairtrade goods.
Local businesses who are lending their support include Care Chairs, Cole Flatt, JPS, Blue Haze, Turner & Browning, Pearces, Harvey Johns, Lucia's, the Drawingroom, Murrays Accounting, Short Couture and Fast Break. Together with Trinity & Broadway Baptist Churches, Chesham Quakers, United Reformed Church, Chesham Methodists and the following schools: Ley Hill, Thomas Harding and Chesham Grammar School there should be enough bunting to stretch a fair way along the High Street - come along and see.
Other events planned for Fairtrade Fortnight to which everyone is welcome include:
A FREE evening of Fairtrade wine and nibbles on Friday 11th March (8-10pm at Emmanuel Church, Broad Street) where Veronica Pasteur, head of campaigns at the Fairtrade Foundation will give an overview of all the inspiring ways in which Fairtrade is making a difference, and how you can support it; and the Fairtrade Fayre where you can taste and buy Fairtrade goodies at Chesham Grammar School on Saturday 12th March between 10.30am and 2pm (entrance 50p for adults). Drumming workshops, face-painting, games, cakes, displays and presentations will make this the total Fairtrade experience!

"The cotton bunting is a great reminder of the fact that Fairtrade can be a force for good not just for food farmers but also for those producing other types of goods in the developing world that we buy frequently. It will be great to celebrate all the local support that exists for Fairtrade - do come along and see us on Saturday 5th March at noon in the Market Square!"
